Time, Estimation and Cost Management
COURSE OVERVIEW
This 3-day (24 classroom hour) seminar is intended to address two of the most critical components of a project On Time and Within Budget Completion. Both depend on the accurate assessment of task duration, logical variables, and the activity cost and resource assumptions. This course is intended to provide a comprehensive overview of time and cost management, including activity duration estimation, resource planning, cost estimating, budgeting and control.

Project Managers, Functional Managers, Internal Consultants, Financial Planners, Accountants and Project Team Members interested in understanding the key project issues related to time and costs.

WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE
  • The skills to estimate and determine realistic task and project duration's
  • An understanding of the tools and techniques that combined with expert knowledge, guaranty justifiable, documentable and realistic estimates - The ability to utilize various resources and scenarios to aid in baseline resource planning and allocation
  • Insight into the methods utilized to consistently and methodically create accurate and operational cost and time estimates
  • The ability to develop budgets during the early phase of the project, and then control them during the life of the project.

  • Activity Sequencing and Activity Durating Estimating - utilize PDM to CPM schedules that reflect the Project Team plan
  • Mathematical Analysis of Activity Duration's - Work with CPM, PERT and Duration Compression techniques to determine a realistic Baseline Schedule and Budgets
  • The ability to tap into your team resources to build the plan To obtain "buy in", participation and support from the Project Stakeholders
  • Time Tasted Techniques - examine the uses and degree of accuracy of order of magnitude, parametric modeling, unit cost and activity based estimating
  • Managing the Project Budget - Using "earned value" to monitor variances allowing you to identify potential problems and take corrective action before it is too late
  • Understanding the options available to the project manager - Learn the only 4 solutions available to a project managers to create a recovery plan for activities gone awry
  • Develop Check List - Sources of checklists and other schedules to increase your productifity and minimize potentials for errors
